The purpose of both were to help improve the quality of life for Thailand residents, which also meant that many were able to afford new cars. In what was was a sparse market before now there is less scarcities. The result today is a broader used car market not just in Surat Thani but all over Thailand.

Where to go to buy a used car in Surat Thani Province

Like many provinces in Thailand, the two main venues to purchase a used car through is either directly from the dealer or from an individual online. There are many online and printed listings for sellers and buyers. There are also many auctions held on vehicles that have been repossessed by banks. The dealers offer the best rate for financing and warranties, while sellers and auctions tend to be a bit less expensive than dealers.

Always be sure to examine the car inside and out, checking for common issues that people may try to hide when selling their old vehicle. When examining a potential used car for purchase, check the exterior and under the hood at the very least.

Exterior: Be sure the underside is at least visible for a quick inspection. Being able to glance on the underside can reveal a lot of potential issues, such as rust and other signs of damage to the under carriage. Run your hand along the exterior as you examine the paint job and watch out for any dents or signs that areas have been painted over. The grill in front and bumpers on both ends should not show any signs of a gap or bulge.

Under the hood: You should be able to give a cursory examination under the hood, both at rest and idling. When it is at rest, be sure to look over the belts for signs of cracks. Excess oil and sludge on the engine block can be signs of gasket issues. While it is cool and not running, you should check the fluids for yourself, including taking a look in the radiator. With the engine idling and gently revved, listen to it and watch the belts. If a seller is unwilling to allow this level of inspection, then move on. Without having a professional mechanic's opinion or being allowed to check the most basic aspects yourself, there is likely some issue lurking within the vehicle.
